Although walking will benefit almost anyone, someone with high levels of fitness probably wouldn't gain that much. It is amazing how the simple act of walking for about half an hour per day every day will increase your level of fitness, improve breathing, lung capacity and cardiovascular health. Surprisingly, walking at a fast pace can be quite tiring and it is good to slow down every so often to take a break as a faster pace can also creates more impact on the joints as well.

If you are someone who attends the gym regularly, there are machines which give you the opportunity to walk or run on them which can be an efficient use of exercise time.

There are very few types of physical activity that can match the simple act of walking for the ease with which weight can be lost. Walking is a wonderful way to start your exercise routine as it is low impact, you need no special equipment, and it costs nothing. However, to really give yourself some more versatility then a treadmill can make all the difference with a huge range of difficulty levels and programs all without leaving you home.

The treadmill was an early piece of home fitness equipment and remains to this day the most popular as it is very versatile. The motorized belt allows for a huge number of settings to improve your heart and lung function and increase your metabolic rate which means that calories will be burned faster.

When you look for a treadmill, make sure it has a powerful motor and good range of height adjustment and has a sturdy feel when you step onto it. The treadmill works for a lot of people who like to work out in the privacy of their own home.

You can snatch a few minutes here and there on the treadmill while dinner's cooking.
